Several of my coworkers at United Way of Mid-Maine (UWMM) were fans of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and would frequently talk about the show in the office. it inspired me to call our volunteers “Agents of IMPACT.” (I wish I could take credit for coming up with the acronym, but that was our Resource Development Manager at the time, Jaime Sayers.)
I used a comic book-style font for the headline and action bubbles for the callouts. I also used United Way colors and assets (the piggy bank, books, and bullhorn) to create a logo, which was also inspired by Charlie’s Angels.
I used the superhero theme at every chance, in the volunteer guide, volunteer onboarding slides, and in community marketing pieces such as this one-sheet. It was very well received by staff, volunteers, and the board of directors alike.
